Your grinder stalls mid-cycle, or the hopper cracks after a bad drop. Before you replace the whole machine, check what OXO actually sells.

OXO coffee grinder replacement parts cover the full-size Conical Burr and the Compact grinder. The part you most likely need, the upper burr, costs $19.99. A full-size grinder sells for roughly $105 to $110 at retailers.

This guide covers which parts fit which model and what each one costs. It also covers how to install them. For model differences, see our oxo coffee grinder complete guide.

Which OXO Grinder Parts Can You Replace?

OXO sells parts for the full-size Conical Burr (stainless and matte black), the Integrated Scale model, and the Compact. Its replacement-parts page has no category for the Manual grinder or the Barista Brain, so don’t plan a repair around either one.

Brew Conical Burr with Integrated Scale8710200Upper burr only
Brew Compact Conical Burr8720800Upper assembly, grounds cup, spray bottle

Fit is where people get caught. The stainless grounds container fits only the stainless model (8717000). The matte black container is for the matte black model (8722600). The hopper with lid fits both full-size finishes.

The Integrated Scale model gets only the upper burr. A cracked hopper on that grinder has no listed fix.

The Compact works differently. Its upper and lower burrs are both removable, and the chuteless design makes it easy to clean.

For the Manual grinder or the Barista Brain, call OXO Customer Service at (800) 545-4411 before you buy anything. Don’t assume the 8712300 burr fits them, because its listing names neither.

How Do You Tell Which Part Needs Replacing?

Match the symptom to the part, but clear trapped beans and packed grounds first. They can mimic a dead part.

Coffee oil builds up on burr surfaces and changes how they cut. A dirty chamber can feel like a worn burr, so clean before you order. A $19.99 burr bought to fix a stuck bean is a wasted order.

If grinding is still slow or uneven after a full clean, the burr is the likely culprit.

Here is the limit worth knowing. On the full-size models, only the upper burr comes out, and OXO says the lower burr should stay in place. A worn lower burr means buying a new grinder. The Compact is the exception, because its upper assembly includes a removable lower burr.

How Do You Replace the Upper Burr?

Lift the metal handle, twist counterclockwise, and pull the burr straight up. Then seat the new burr and turn it clockwise until it clicks.

These steps apply to models 8717000, 8722600, and 8710200.

    1. Run the grinder briefly to move loose beans through.
    2. Unplug the grinder.
    3. Turn the knob inside the hopper counterclockwise until it clicks.
    4. Lift the hopper off.
    5. Clear any beans left between the burrs.
    6. Lift the metal handle on the upper burr.
    7. Twist the burr counterclockwise.
    8. Pull it straight up.
    9. Brush the lower burr and the chute with a dry brush.
    10. Line up the indents on the new burr with the tabs inside the lower burr.
    11. Turn the burr clockwise until it clicks.
    12. Pull up on the handle to test it. A seated burr stays put.
    13. Put the hopper back on.

Step 5 is the one people skip. OXO’s instructions say to clean the area around the lower burr before you seat the new one. Beans or grounds left there are the usual reason a burr won’t lock.

If the burr lifts out when you tug the handle, don’t reattach the hopper. Pull the burr, clean the chamber again, and reseat it.

How Do You Replace the Hopper, Grounds Container, or Compact Upper Assembly?

The full-size hopper unlocks with a counterclockwise turn of the knob inside it. The Compact’s upper assembly comes off and goes on as one unit.

    Full-size hopper (8717000 and 8722600):

    1. Turn the knob inside the hopper counterclockwise until it clicks.
    2. Lift the hopper off.
    3. Align the tabs on the new hopper with the notches in the grinder.
    4. Press down gently.
    5. Turn the knob clockwise until the hopper locks.

The trap door holds beans in place while the hopper is off. You can swap a hopper without emptying it first.

Grounds container: It’s a drop-in part that needs no tools. The only decision is finish. Buy stainless for the 8717000 and matte black for the 8722600.

Compact upper assembly: It includes the hopper lid, the upper housing with the burr, and the removable lower burr. That makes it the one Compact repair that covers both burrs. It costs $29.99 against $19.99 for the full-size burr, but you’re replacing more. OXO’s listing gives no swap steps, so keep the Compact’s manual nearby.

Compact grounds cup and spray bottle: The grounds cup comes with the grey pouring spout. The spray bottle is an RDT bottle. One or two spritzes of water on the beans before grinding reduces static and retention. It fits most grinders, not just the Compact.

Where Should You Buy OXO Parts, and What Do They Cost?

Buy from OXO’s own store at oxo.com. Genuine OXO coffee grinder replacement parts cost little next to a new grinder, and buying direct keeps your warranty intact. Prices shift with sales, so confirm at checkout.

Where Should You Buy OXO Parts, and What Do They Cost

OXO ships free on orders over $49. A burr, a hopper, and a stainless container add up to $42.97, so even that bundle falls short.

A price far below OXO’s is the red flag. Look-alike sites, many on domains ending in .it.com, copy OXO’s product text word for word. They list the upper burr for $6 to $8 and the hopper for $3 to $4. Those aren’t OXO, so don’t enter card details there.

Resale listings are a different trap. New parts listed there can cost more than double OXO’s price. A spray bottle that’s $4.99 at OXO shows up for $11.99.

Used parts are a gamble. Sellers pull them from used grinders, so wear is unknown. You also get only the single part you pick.

Mini Case Study: A Daily-Use Grinder That Stopped Locking Its Burr

A typical failure starts with a full-size grinder that has run most mornings for years.

    • Situation: A stainless Conical Burr grinder (8717000) has run most mornings for years.
    • Observation: Grinding feels slower, the grounds look uneven, and after a brush-out the upper burr won’t click back in.
    • Action: Unplug it, clear every bean, and brush the chamber and tab slots. Reseat the burr. If it still won’t lock, or the grounds stay uneven, order a new upper burr.
    • Result: Cleaning alone can restore the click. When the burr is truly worn, a $19.99 part replaces a $105 to $110 grinder.

The catch is that a stuck bean and a worn burr feel almost identical. A burr swap also does nothing for a dead motor or dial. Clean first, since that’s free. If the grinder is still inside its two-year warranty, call OXO before you buy a part.

How Do You Make Replacement Parts Last Longer?

Keep the burr chamber clean and dry. The manual says the grinder isn’t dishwasher safe. OXO’s care instructions call for a brush on the burrs and chute and a damp cloth on the body.

Brush both burr surfaces regularly. Coffee oil builds up on them and changes how the grinder cuts. Dark, oily roasts clump in the hopper and leave grounds in the chute, so they need cleaning more often.

OXO also sells grinder cleaning tablets. They remove leftover grounds and oil that can cause clogs.

Watch how the upper burr seats after each clean. If it clicks less cleanly than before, debris is still in the chamber. Clean again before you decide the burr is worn out.

    FAQ

Do non-OXO parts void my warranty?

Yes. The manual says the two-year warranty becomes void if spare parts other than OXO’s are used, or if unauthorized third parties make repairs. After the warranty ends, OXO offers service at an added cost. Use genuine parts while you’re still covered.

Can I replace the lower burr?

On the full-size grinders, no. Only the upper burr comes out, and OXO says the lower burr should stay in place. The Compact is the exception, because its replacement upper assembly includes a removable lower burr.

Is repairing worth it compared with buying new?

Usually, if the burr is the problem. OXO coffee grinder replacement parts start at $19.99 for the upper burr, against roughly $105 to $110 for a new full-size grinder. A burr swap won’t fix a dead motor or dial, though.

    Are the replacement parts BPA-free?

OXO’s part listings don’t state the plastic type for the hopper or grounds cup. If BPA matters to you, ask OXO Customer Service at (800) 545-4411 before ordering. The full-size grounds containers are stainless steel, so plastic isn’t a question there.

How long do the burrs last?

OXO doesn’t state a burr lifespan on the part’s page. Wear depends on how much you grind and which beans you use. Clean the chamber first. If grinding is still slow or uneven, the burr is worn.

Is a used part from a resale listing safe to buy?

Skip used burrs. Sellers pull them from used grinders, so wear is unknown. A used hopper or grounds container carries less risk if the model number matches, but you only get the single part listed.
